Who we are

Forbidden Economics was founded by Angelo Dalli in 2014 as a public space for systematically investigating economic topics from multiple perspectives and sharing ideas.

Our mission is to advance the frontier of Economic knowledge and thinking by developing and promoting a framework of thinking that improves not just our ability to understand economic, political, and other social issues, but also broadens our understanding of these disciplines themselves.

What we do

Forbidden Economics’ goal is to create the leading public platform for presenting, sharing, and discussing economic, political, philosophical and other social issues, theories, and ideas.

We deliver premium quality, fact-based analysis and thought provoking commentary on economic, political, and philosophical issues in a format which is engaging for both the qualified practitioner and to the inquisitive layperson.

Our Belief

We believe that economic performance and governance are central to the standard of living, technological progress, civil and human rights enjoyed by a society. We recognise that the economic decision making process is intrinsically linked to political motivations and Geo-political factors.

We believe that a thorough understanding of economics is of utmost importance for the progress of humanity and social well being.

Our Purpose

Our mission is to advance the frontier of Economic knowledge and thinking in order to uplift human condition.

Forbidden Economics’ goal is to create the leading public platform for presenting, sharing, and discussing economic, political, philosophical and other social issues, theories, and ideas.

We are determined to raise awareness about the relevance of economics and encourage people to pursue economic education. We aim to build a wealth of knowledge and share it with as wide an audience as possible.

Our ambition is to push the boundaries of economic knowledge by providing in-depth analysis which enables thorough understanding of economic, political, philosophical and other social issues. We shall strive to present thought provoking commentary that challenges convention, inspires new ideas, and drives innovation within these fields.

We aspire to develop and promote a framework of thinking which deepens our understanding of economics and broadens our perspective of how it relates to Geo-politics, psychology and other disciplines. We aim to improve our ability to investigate, understand, and tackle economic, political, philosophical and other social issues.

Finally we want to convert the knowledge acquired into tangible solutions to pending problems and empower our readers to take advantage of the potential it holds to improve their lives and society at large. Forbidden Economics will seek to put the new thinking framework at work to generate ideas and formulate actionable proposals for the benefit of our readers, clients, their communities and humankind in general.

Our Approach

The more different angles you look at an object from, the more truthful and comprehensive a picture of it you will get. We believe that in order to truly understand an issue we need to investigate and analyse it from as many pertinent points of view as possible. We do not just stick to the mainstream economics' point of view, nor do we demonise it and adhere exclusively to one particular school of thought. We acknowledge the merits of mainstream economics and the theories it incorporates, but we also recognise its shortfalls.

At Forbidden Economics we are aware that there are more than 30 schools of economic thought, and we maintain that most of them can add value to our overall understanding of the workings of economics. We also recognise that various other fields of study can enrich our perspective and offer valuable insight into specific economic issues. Hence, we advocate that the discipline of Economics should not insulate itself from other disciplines. Instead, Economics should embrace intellectual cross pollination and make a concerted effort to rope in as many relevant points of view as possible.

Our Methodology

We approach the issue strategically, first by deconstructing it into its components both from a micro perspective and from a macro-level one. We adopt lateral thinking techniques to investigate both each single component and how they tie with each other from multiple points of view including different schools of economic thought and other fields of study.

Our History

Forbidden Economics was originally started, by Angelo Dalli, as a personal blog in 2014. The blog didn't experience much action or additional new content until in mid 2016 when he decided to expand it into a public space for presenting, sharing, and discussing economic topics.

He spent the following months planning the general structure of how Forbidden Economics would work in order to positively contribute towards the betterment of society while adding specific value to the market. Late in 2016 development of the website itself finally started with care towards setting up the groundwork of a viable venture which could grow into something meaningful that ends up making a real difference. The official Forbidden Economics website was launched on the 24th of March 2018.
